On 26th April, the Cramond Primary Ski Race Team had their second outing to the SnowFactor in Braehead. So Cramond’s fastest skiers (Ben Struthers, Aidan and Jamie Elliot, Conor Bygrave, Bodie Smith all P7 and me, Amy Young P6) got up bright and early to head through to Glasgow. We all went separate roads for the journey but thankfully all arriving at around the same time.
This time the event was 2017 SSSA Indoor Green Mountain Races. This was a new event for this year, it replaced the 2017 Alpine Race Series, which couldn’t run due to the lack of snow on the actual mountains!
We got one practise run on the actual course but as many as we liked on the normal slope so we skied and skied until our fingers went blue!
The races were run on two purpose build slalom courses (blue for the boys and red for the girls) each with a sneaky little jump in the middle. Each racer had to get down the hill as quickly as possible, making sure that they went around each of the 16 gates on the course correctly. The jump made for some interesting wobbles midway down the run. Thankfully the Cramond team all handled the course without issue.
The fastest runs out of the two runs we raced were recorded and ranked. The position of the times were…
1st me, 2nd Ben, 3rd Conor, 4th Aiden, 5th Jamie and 6th Bodie
Over all we came 18th and had a great day out!
