Waddell Weekly Round Up (Term 1 week 6)

Dear Nursery Families,

Another week has whizzed by and nursery has been full of play and chat and creativity as always. You will be seeing observations on your child’s e journal and hopefully this is giving you a window into nursery as well. This week the children have really been enjoying exploring colour and have been sorting and organising lots of items both inside and outdoors. The buttons are a huge hit with lots of individuals and have been a focal point for lots of little groups working together to sort them in different ways and have stimulated lots of conversation. In response to this interest we will add some different materials for the children to select from for sorting jobs.

I have also had the opportunity to go to The Scottish Learning Festival this week in Glasgow where I attended seminars about early years subjects as well as seeing lots of stalls set up to demonstrate new resources and initiatives in education as well as showcases from different local authorities. I am super exited about sharing this learning with the nursery team and with yourselves. I was particularly happy to note that Cramond nursery already use a lot of the practices which were being flagged as excellent practice. Keep your eye on the website for updates on how we will use this learning to take forward our nursery even more.

I am very grateful to our nursery parents who are getting together this coming Sunday morning for a couple of hours to help out with weatherproofing and organising our outdoor provision. May I say a huge thank you to Gwen for organising this and enthusing so many of our wonderful parents to come along and help out. We love to have our parents actively involved and really are hopeful to have as much parental engagement as possible. It’s lovely to let you know what is going on in nursery but even nicer when you can really be involved. We do understand that many parents simply cannot get involved the way they would like to and we are always open to suggestions for ways around this challenge.

Please have a lovely weekend, especially if you are spending some of it in the nursery garden this weekend!

Mrs Waddell.
