Waddell Weekly Term 1 week 7

Dear Nursery Families,

With only two full weeks to the holidays the end of term is fast approaching. We have parent’s eveings on the Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th of October and your child’s key worker will liaise with you to organise a meeting for parents of pre school children. There will be a sign up sheet on each group station for you to fill in if you would like a meeting. We are slightly more flexible in nursery due to the nature of the daily routine and understand how hard it can be for parents to organise time to have appointments. If you would rather have a ten minute chat at the end of your session or during the nursery day then we can make this happen for you. After discussion with nursery reps and staff in the nursery we have very deliberately made sure that parent’s evenings are on the same dates as the rest of the school so that you only have to ask for babysitter’s services once. We hope you agree this is helpful.

You may have noticed we have two new faces in nursery this week. Rachael Macaskill and Callum French are our PGCE student teachers. They will be with us for two weeks where they hope to learn lots about Early Level before moving on to Primary 2 and Primary 3 for teaching experience there.

Tooth brushing has started in the nursery playroom now  and is going very well. We are ‘dry brushing’ and the children will be able to tell you all about this. Mrs Carcas has taught us all a special wee song to help with the tune along to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. This may help at home with bedtime routines if you want to try it? Singing it through twice while the children are brushing is a god amount of time to aim for.

Got my toothpaste,

Got my brush,

I won’t hurry,

I won’t rush,

Making sure my teeth are clean,

Front and back and inbetween.

When I’ve brushed for quite a while,

I will have a happy smile.

Our topic is recycling at the moment and the children are excited about sorting out all of the items in nursery. We also like saving food scraps and putting them into the food caddy, which we take along to the school dining hall and the main recycling bin. Miss McKay has put up a small display in the nursery with a wee story called Michael Recycle you may like too.  Sorry to those of you who now have children ferreting through your bins!

Can I kindly ask the last few parents who have not returned their EE2 forms and Annual Data return forms to please pop them into us as quickly as possible please? It is really important that we have these important documents. If you are not sure if you have returned yours then please ask Mrs Warrender who has a wee list to check off.

Lastly, I have some news to share on behalf of Miss McKay! She is embarking on a new journey and will be leaving the Cramond team in the close future. While we are excited for her we are also devastated to be losing her! Please see our seperate post for more information.
