EE2 forms and annual data sheets are in school bags today (Wed 17th August).

A gold star if you have already sent it back in signed.

Please return ALL forms as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance. We hope that all pupils bring their book bag to and from school each day. Older pupils may not use it for books but it is essential for organising and paper letters.

Out of School Care

Cramond now has a Breakfast and after school club facility in our premises, run by Oscars. Any enquiries or information for after school care should be made directly with Oscars. We are pleased to welcome them and happy that our families now have greater choices around childcare in the local area. Pupils are dropped off and collected from gym hall doors, opened by Oscars staff.

Staffing Update.

We are delighted to welcome to Cramond returning staff, new staff who jointly form, a greatly enthusiastic, committed team of creative staff. We are excited about the learning planned for the year ahead – see below, dates for your diary.

At meet the teacher on 6th September, you will have the chance to see around the school and class, find out about the year ahead and ways you can support your child’s learning. We hope you can make it!

Don’t forget to keep checking the school website.

Snapshots of children’s learning will be shared by posts on the group pages, throughout the session.

Crossing patrol – Tom has now retired, we wish him well. Crossing patrols are recruiting a new crossing patrol for Gamekeepers. Meanwhile Linda will continue to cross at Gamekeepers and Whitehouse crossing use the zebra crossing. A a miscommunication with crossing patrol services meant Gamekeepers was not manned this morning. This error was rectified by crossing patrol for the end of the school day.

Gym Hall Update

The new hall construction is on schedule and taking shape! We will be launching on 16th October if all goes to plan, more details to follow. The building team and site foreman, Jim have been excellent. Fraser McCann in P7 (also when he was in P6) is providing us with regular updates and photo evidence.

Playground Update – further to resurfacing and rock smoothing work which took place at the end of term and into holidays, we continue to make improvements based on the Rospa risk assessment we invest in as part of our playground development. The playground transformation was initiated, led and funded by the Parent council – supported and welcomed by the school. We have a great deal of grounds. Play is an essential part of learning at Cramond and we encourage children to challenge themselves, take risks and develop skills in physical environment outdoors, as well as the classroom. Following principles of Scottish Play Strategy and Edinburgh council play initiative, Cramond grounds are exciting, creative and demanding offering scope for lots of different types of play. The latest H&S report by ROSPA was received on 10th August and can be found on the school website along with the risk benefit/risk assessment school document and the action plan.

Latest works include a barrier at prow of ship, padding to top of tunnel and work on a new barrier at the climbing wall. Some works will be completed this weekend. We are replacing matting and seeding new grass with tyre edging on the grass slope area in the coming few weeks. This area remains out of use. We are delighted with new sand, new gravel at the slide base and a face lift of the wild life areas!! We had grass cut – are hoping to have lines painted on the football pitch along with grounds maintenance.
