Personal Learning & Achievements

At Cramond, we celebrate the whole child, not only their academic progress but also their personal achievements, skills and talents. Learning doesn’t just happen in school, every experience helps shape who we are and who we can become.
Through the Curriculum for Excellence and national guidance from Education Scotland, we recognise the importance of developing children’s:
• Personal learning and achievements – celebrating successes in and out of school.
• Meta-skills such as creativity, self-management, communication and critical thinking.
• Skills for learning – life and work that prepare our learners to thrive now and in the future.

We encourage families to share children’s personal achievements from home, whether it’s sporting success, music, drama, volunteering, hobbies or acts of kindness. These can be shared through Learning Journals, allowing staff to join families in recognising and celebrating children’s wider achievements.

This partnership between home and school helps us build confidence, foster resilience, and nurture skills that will support every learner at Cramond as they grow into capable, caring and adaptable young people.

Skills for learning, life, and work include cognitive skills like; critical thinking, problem-solving and creative thinking, alongside personal skills such as self-awareness, empathy, and resilience. Effective communication and collaboration are also crucial, as are practical abilities like digital literacy, numeracy, and time management. Developing these interconnected skills helps individuals navigate personal and professional challenges, enabling them to become successful learners and adaptable contributors.
